Automobile Tempered Glass is often referred to as safety glass. Its impact resistant strength is 3 to 10 times greater than ordinary annealed glass, and its brittle nature causes it to shatter into small fragments when broken; thereby eliminating the risk of injury from sharp edges.
For automotive applications our Tempered Glass is available in various thicknesses from 3.2mm to 6mm.
Laminated glass is made by bonding together two or more pieces of glass over a plastic interlayer, giving the glass more resistance to shattering and also reducing noise transmission. A UV coating is applied to screen out harmful ultraviolet light.
The main strength of laminated safety glass is its performance under impact. The laminate absorbs the energy of an impact and resists penetration, and when the glass breaks the glass fragments remain firmly bonded to the laminate, minimizing the risk of injuries.
